Caitlin just turned 8 months! Wow, time flies! It seems like it was just yesterday when she was just borned! And in 4 months time, she'll be ONE!!
We brought her for her developmental check up at the Maternal Child Health nurse office yesterday. She is currently 7085g which is around 7kg and 63.5cm in length! Caleb was already 8.6kg & 69.4cm at that same stage. She's such a petite girl!
But her development wise, she is sure faster than Caleb when he was her age. She really loves playing with her brother. She tends to crawl over to play near her Caleb. caleb can still be a little rough on her, pulling her into the Wiggles house by 1 arm when he wants to play with her inside. And pushes her away either using his hands and sometimes feet when he don't want her around! He tends to push Caitlin around or smack her when she plays or chews on his toys especially his jigsaw puzzles. Ohhh...Caitlin absolutely loves chewing on his wooden puzzles! If they have sugarcanes here, think she'll love chewing on them! Soothes her gums I guess.
Caitlin's been drooling a lot recently. She just had her 5th tooth out! So she now has her top 2 front teeth and bottom front 2 teeth and the new one is the right tooth next to the bottom pair. She loves to rub her teeth together which makes your hair stands on ends like scratching the chalkboard with your nails! Think she inherited from me, but I normally do that at night when I don't even realise it. Caleb does that too also at night. But Caitlin does it during the day and she seems to enjoy it! She still has eczema around the mouth area but it flares up and gets better and then flares up again. The nurse said it due to her drool as well and besides that, she scratches that area. But she reckons it will improve by age of 2. I sure hope so!
She has been a smiley baby but not a lot of laughter or giggles from her. When Caleb was her age, he was such a happy baby, laughing and giggling a lot! I think caitlin is trying to play it cool. Sigh...just smiles only. It is so hard to get a laughter from her but we realised she tends to laugh at Caleb's silly actions because he'll burst into his contagious laughter which makes her laughs too! It's soooo cute seeing them laugh together.
Bath time has always been a factory process for us. Normally Felix will bathe Caleb in the shower first. After Caleb is done, I'll pass Caitlin to Felix and I'll dress Caleb up. Then I'll grab caitlin from the shower and dress her up while Felix carries on with his shower. Because it takes a while to dress Caitlin because she has lots of creams to apply, Felix will take over when he comes out from the shower so I can take my shower. So this happens every night! But 3 night ago, when Felix is on his business trip, I put both of them together in the baby bath! The baby bath is in the big bathtub in the other bathroom. They enjoyed it a lot bathing together! Caitlin can't be in the bath for too long so I will take her out after 3mins and dress her up while Caleb carries on playing with his bath toys in the water. Then after that I will attend to Caleb. This is such a good way for the kids to bond so this will be our new bath routine!
