Caitlin absolutely loves babies!

Caitlin's newest lil cousin, Elizabeth came to visit us with her daddy, mummy and elder brother Alexander. When Caitlin saw Lizzie, her eyes immediately brightened and wide smiles pasted on her face. She shouted: "Baby! Baby!" Nainai allowed her to carry Lizzie while she supervised. Look at the photo! She looked like a pro carrying a baby!

Since their arrival, Caitlin has been obcess with the lil baby. Every morning, as soon as she opens her eyes, she will ask"Baby?" She will run and look for her. Whenever Lizzie cries, she will be the 1st one to rush to her room to see her. She is like Lizzie's, shadow, pratically following her wherever she goes!

I bet she will be a very helpful and loving sister if I ever have a #3. Look at her adoring eyes...haha, so sweet eh?

Caleb's 3yo Lil Kinder Year End Concert

We went to Caleb's Lil Kinder concert but he refused to participate. He simply sat there and stare. At least, he didn't cry. I guess that is still a plus for him. He don't seem to like to participate yet when he gets home, he hums the songs and sometimes, does the actions when we are not looking!

Hmmm....I hope he is able to gain more confidence and participate at his Kinder this year. His Kindergarten is now at Tarneit Community centre, different from his 3yo kinder. He seems to like it better at the new kinder, also probably because he has his friend, Trudy in the same class. Anyway, hope he can climb out of his shell and start to be more sociable as well as more responsive to people.

I am now convinced that my little girl is a tigress reborn.

Her brother did something and got her upset recently.... BIG mistake...

Before we know it, he was trying to run away panicking a little while she grabbed him from behind on both his sides, screaming as she does that, and started biting him repeatedly on his back!!!!! PANIC!

Imagine or try to remember a lion (or a tiger) pounce on her prey, jumping on its back, using her claws to hold on while she bites the poor animal into submission.... and eventually eats it.

Sad to say, her brother was the unfortunate prey.....

Sorry to say, we decided that in the spirit of keeping this as family friendly website... such graphic images will not be uploaded as our internal Board of Censors decided it was unsuitable for this innocently created and kid-friendly blog. So the above picture is as good as it gets... use your imagination! (Actually hor, we were so horrified that we forgot to take photo)

Anyway, thankfully she had a bib in her face and was not really biting him. But there was no escape from the 'claws' though....

For those concerned with her prey... No... he did not get eaten if that's what you are worried about. In fact, I don't think he actually learnt his lesson, he is still irritating her at every opportunity he gets...

Finally, I took the courage to take a few photos of my house to show everyone today. It is still incomplete, more tidying to be done, more re-arranging, more new stuff coming, so please don't be shock to see all the mess around. :P

I apologise for being "away" for soooo long. Been busy with the new house therefore I haven't been taking much photos, plus i've been a little lazy. :P I promise you that I shall update more soon!

At the moment, the inlaws are over and my bro-in-law, Edmund is here to stay for next 3 yrs as he is embarking on his study journey with Uni of Melbourne. I am enjoying my 2 weeks' school holidays with 1 more week to go. If you do not know yet, I am taking a Cert III in Childcare and I should complete my course by Nov.

As for our new house, we are furnishing the house a step at a time. Recently, we got a King size bed for our room (yeah! Finally after longing for a big bed for last 5rs+), a new washing machine and a dryer, a new big fridge, an 8 seater dinning table and our decking at the alfresco area is 95% completed (Felix's work of art....also special thanks to Jerry, Felix's dad, Edmund for their help!) In few weeks' time, we will be getting our 2 set of new sofas (1 for our rumpus aka family room and 1 for our lounge). We still need the remaining 20% of our venetien blinds as they are currently out of stock! Anyway, all our new furnitures are generously sponsored by the inlaws. Many many thanks to them! We are eternally grateful to them!

Ok, health wise, I am not in good shape now. I am suffering from a bad cold since yesterday and hope I'll get better soon! Felix has been having this terrible cough for at least 2 weeks already. The children are fine. Except Caitlin's eczema on her neck flared up again.

Caleb contracted HFMD!! Papachoo away in Msia!

We noticed some tiny blister spots on Caleb's hands when we were having our KFC lunch on Sat 25/4/09. Then while eating, Caleb was complaining his tongue hurts and we saw some ulcers developing. We rushed to the clinic right after for a check up, not knowing what's happening to him. Doctor confirmed it is Hand Foot and Mouth disease after inspecting his hands, legs and mouth. There are a few possibilities he could have caught this virus, his childcare centre as he has been attending full time this week. Kinder (was there on Thu) or at Childrens Hospital when we were visiting his good friend on Thu night. Anyway, we were told Caleb will recover after 10- 14 days. And were given an MC for the whole 2 weeks.

That night, Felix left for Malaysia, leaving me all alone with the 2 kiddies. Caleb was so upset seeing daddy leaving and he cried for over 15min.

I was fortunate to have a good friend over to help me from Sunday through to Thursday. Thanks so much gal!!!

Anyway, the little blisters doesn't seem to affect Caleb but the clusters of ulcers on his tongue made him refuse food for 2 whole days, Sun & Mon. He was on liquid diet, milk in a straw cup, 5 times a day. I can tell he is very hungary, tried to put some food in his mouth but he still start crying the second it enters his mouth. My poor boy!

On the 3rd day (Tue), he is much better and he could have his porridge and it doesn't hurt that much but still painful. So I gave him a baby spoon to feed himself. He has to aim the spoon on the side of his mouth that would't touch the ulcers.

4th day (Wed), His ulcers seem to be gone! He is back to his usual diet. Besides that, his spots on his hands and legs seem to have reduce dramatically. Hooray!

Thu, very glad that Felix is back. He bought Caleb 2 Bakugan toys and that made his day! And Caitlin got a cute FurReal puppy and I got a nice coach bag...*grin* And my lovely galfren got the latest Gucci fragrance, Flora. Papachoo exceptionally generous. He had a good trip to Malaysia. :P

Keys to our new house

24 April 2009, we received the keys to our new house. New address: 10 Winona Circuit, Tarneit, Vic 3029. We have not fix the letter box so please do not post anything to the new address yet!

Anyway, we should be moving in to our new place in 2 weeks time. We have to vacate the present place by 23May'09 so no matter what, we still need to move by then!

At this stage, we should have our timber flooring installed by early next week. Not sure when we are doing the driveway as we are waiting for the concreter to call to fix a date. The fence should be up sometime 2nd week of May. We have yet to confirm our venetien blinds due to our current tight finances as a deposit of 40% must be given upon order. And it will take about 4 weeks before we can get it installed. Hope we can get the blinds up by 2nd week of June! Meanwhile, just have to use mahjong paper/ towels/ bedsheets/ blanket/ cardboard boxes to cover our windows! :P

Sean's 4th Birthday Party

We celebrated Sean's 4th Birthday party today. His actual birthday is on 30th May. He has this beautiful Spiderman cake that all the kids were eyeing since it got to the table. The birthday was held in this playcentre in Thomastown. It has this train ride which kids can get on and it goes around a track into a volcano. The ride runs every 15min-30min and when the bell rings, the kids automactically run to find a seat on board! Haha, Caleb is one of the fastest one! He loved the ride whereas Caitlin on the other hand, was terrified! Anyway, all the kids had an enjoyable time especially the birthday boy and also not to mention Caleb. They played together non-stop for almost 3.5- 4hrs. No wonder he fell alseep shortly in the car.

Interesting time @ the Museum

Caleb has been to the museum a couple of times and everytime we went, there are new exhibits. This time round, they have the Dinosaur bones on display and Caleb absolutely loved it! So does Caitlin! I foresee we shall be visiting the museum very often as we do not need to pay a singe cent for entrance! How cool is that? That's the beauty of having a health care card. But even we don't have the card, entrance is only $8 per adt and foc our kids. Still very reasonable for the amount of displays in there. We spent over 3.5hrs in there this time but we haven't completed half the museum! I will highly recommend the museum to anyone with kids as I have never seen a museum as interesting as this in my entire life. (in sin, i nv liked to go museum thinking all old boring stuff..hehe) But this is very different! Visit and you will know. Trust me.

By the way, you can borrow stroller from the cloak room if you forgotten to bring yours! No charge! The service is fantastic!

Latest Updates on Lot 1068 Winona Circuit

Today, we had our inspection of the house. Red stickers around the house indicates paint touch up to be done. We will be installing timber flooring in our study, lounge, family room, dining room and the walkway to all these rooms. Therefore at this stage, you see only concrete on the floor. The rest of the house are carpeted which includes all bedrooms and rumpus. We shall be having our final inspection on 24 April 2009 and if everything is fine, we will collect keys to the house on the same day. *happiness* Once we get the keys, we can start getting the concreter to do the driveway, get blinds installed in the house and of course, timber flooring to be installed indoors. At the same time, the developer will get people to install fences and do the landscaping in front of the house. So once all these are done, we are ready to move in with some cleaning up prior to that. The rest of our backyard, we plan to work on it slowly in seperate stages and Felix like to do it on his own. More updates to come! Stay tune!

(Pssst....he still don't know how pedal yet anyway) But it can be a little tough and tiring to drag him at the back as he is not helping by pedaling. Caitlin loves to self feed during meals and this is the mess she always make. The rice are so tiny and they are everywhere, I really mean EVERYWHERE! On the her table, on the floor, under her seat and on the sides of her highchair cover and although she has her double protection bib (a cloth bib on the inside then another plastic bib with food catcher over it), the food still can manage to drop into her clothes !

It has been ages eversince I last updated the blog. Today, I shall update everything that I missed! Which includes some from the Singapore trip to recent ones! That's heaps! Hope you have fun reading!

Anyway, the kids are in childcare today, their 3rd time there. We enrolled them into ABC Tarneit South Childcare and they go there every Mondays and Wednesdays. That gives time to myself to do chores, update blogs and job hunting. It is so quiet at home today and I feel unusually peaceful. It is the 1st time I have home alone in this house. Such great feeling!! Hahaha!

Recent updates:

We are finally cleared from conjuctivities after suffering red and sore eyes for 2 weeks.
Ex-colleague, Shelle arrived on friday the 13th. She's here for AIME, a convention. She stayed with us for her 1st 2 nights and we sent her to Winsor hotel yesterday to let her carry on with the purpose she's here for, her convention activities. We will have her back in our house from thursday (19th) till Sunday (22nd). It has been great having her, hearing all her stories of her life at work, at home, with friends. She leads a very interesting life. :) My Caleb simply adores her. Maybe because she pampered him by buying him snacks and lollies and even his favourite toy gun! That toy gun is very noisy, if it has a parent switch which you can turn it off, it will been a really good toy. But NO, it has 10 different sounds and lights and it is LOUD....gosh! Even Shelle regreted buying it for him. Still thinking if I should get it exchanged for another toy? Hmm....

Caitlin has this bad habit of throwing things like toys into bins and even the toilet bowl! She picks things from the bin too! Yesterday she picked the toilet cleaner/freshener that is inside the toilet bowl and played with it! She smeared it all over the wall! OMG! I only found out much later when I went into the toilet and saw the walls! AAARRRRHHH! Before that, she even had some watermelon to eat. Little did we know, that she played with yucky toilet stuff before that, without washing her hands! Yucks! Now, we have to cover all toilet bowls and close those bins with lids.

At 14 months, Caitlin starting to self feed herself with a spoon. She is more accurate eating with her fingers but with spoon, most of the time, nothing ever gets into her mouth. And she makes big mess all over her clothes (even after wearing 2 bibs!), her hair & face, the highchair and the floor. But she refuse to let us feed her. But it will work if we take another spoon to feed her while she carries on trying to feed herself. I guess practice makes perfect! And more cleaning to do from mummy and daddy!

Caleb at 3 years 3 mths, is still being toilet trained. We only put him in his undies at home and if we are out for a short while, but we are not confident to let him wear that when we are out for the whole day, in case we can't find a toilet in time! At home, he always got to have someone to go to the loo with him. Althought there are a few times he could go on his own. To do pee, he is great at it now. But to do poo, he is terrible! He has so many accidents for past few days with poo, he simply refused to do his poo in the loo! There are times he will go the the loo for it but most of the time, he still does it in his undies! Even after reminding him again and again, he still does it in his undies! And that makes me so mad that I will smack him on his buttocks but he still repeat the same mistakes the next day and more smacks. Can someone give me any suggestions how to make him poo in the toilet than in his undies?

We went to a toy library at Hoppers crossing on Saturday and we were surprised to find that they have heaps of toys there! We paid a $30 registration (concession) fee. With that, we can borrow 2 toys and 1 puzzles/educational game for a period of 2 weeks. That's superb! So that day, we borrowed a table for water play with little boats, whales, ducks for both kids and a fisher price dinosaur toy specially for Caitlin. I can't wait to go back there to borrow more toys! I think I'm more excited than the kids! Haha!

We are meeting our building supervisor for our new house tomorrow morning. We should be able to know roughly when our house will be completed then. With Liangyen's house, she met up with her building supervisor last Friday and was told her house should be able to be completed in 6 weeks time. Since we started building around the same time, I presumed our house will also take about the same time. But compared to them, our cabinets (kitchen/ laundry/bathroom) are not installed yet. In fact for the past 1 week, no one actually came to work at all! Wonder what is the carpenter up to. Hmmm....the house was built pretty fast in the 1st few stages, especially before Christmas. Now that they are doing up indoor stuff, things start to slow down. We hope we can get the keys by end April so we can get the timber flooring and the driveway done and we can start to move in! Felix's parents, Victor, Karen and Baby Alexander and Edmund are coming in mid-June so we hope to get everything settled prior to that so they can stay comfortably by then. *fingers crossed* Oh yes, Felix's youngest bro, Edmund will be staying with us for the next few years as he is pursuing his degree in accounting. So he is the latest addition to our family! ;P A big addition! Haha~

A bored daddy Choo

I'm bored.

Sitting in a cafe, waiting for mummy Choo to finish her interview before we can carry on the rest of the day.
Kids are at childcare today. Thankfully..,can't imagine having them going crazy without mum. Hehe.

So...the boss' instructions are to update on the kids using my iPhone while she is at the interview. So here goes:

Caitlin first...
She can climb the stairs more confidently without rolling down. Gives cheeky smiles on demand (as long as she feels like it)
I think she knows that she is the cuter one hahaha and the mini boss of the house. Cos she now throws tantrums as well!
Started childcare but screams like hell when we put her in. Apparently she gets a lot better after we leave though

Caleb

Started a whole range of activities this year.
Mondays and Wednesdays are childcare
Thursdays he has kinder
Fridays he gets to be Romeo at mum's group
Saturdays he has music and swimming classes in the morning

Whew! Busy days!

Children growing, expenses growing, but income is barely coping. Hopefully things will get better soon.
Haiz...the life of a dad...

Ok. My fingers feel like they are about to break soon. And I just remembered that parking is about up. Better go.

So.. we are back again... and in the new year.

The seemingly endless photos have finally been uploaded...

It's been almost 2 weeks since our return and the kids are still on Singapore time.. waking up late and sleeping late... it is now 9:20 am and no one else in the household is awake.

Caleb seems to have grown increasingly jealous of his sister, and Caitlin on the other hand, has started being a little pretentious with fake expressions of crying, screaming and pain. And they will try and bully each other when they can....

Some changes in the new year for us in the household:

1. Bought bikes... looking for baby carriers at the moment, so that we can take the kids out on a ride along the river / park in the evenings and the weekends. And cancelling the gym membership....

2. The wifey is getting better at driving. She will be driving everywhere over the weekends now.
This also means I have to spend more money to get another car when she gets her licence... haiz...

3. Buy a little more lottery and hope to strike at least 3rd division... so as to at least help fund the new car for the wifey

4. Hope to move in the new house by April... it is looking great by the way....

5. Be a little more active on the blog (as and when I can) and therefore making it a real family blog..hehe

erm.. can't think of anything else at the moment...

And just to clarify the air a bit...

I don't encourage him towards violence. We have been following a strict policy of no toys that are guns or swords or something that might have him think that he has a weapon of some sort.

He has also recently shown interest in being a doctor.. usually with him as the doctor and everyone else takes turn to be his patient. which can be a rather interesting experience... So he got his first stethoscope today... (fake one lah.... it's a Toys R Us el-cheepo one)

Caitlin on the other hand, seemed to be leaning towards boys' toys! ***worry ***

I'm gonna have to buy some girly toys for her.... erm.... new year's resolution?

Ramblings of a rather frustrated father...

There have been many occasions since Caleb was born when people asks me," so... is Caleb going to have to serve in the army?"

And... my response have always been: "Yes!"

To my friends who happen to think that I am sadistic and probably bordering madness to want to put my son through the military, I'll have to say that you are probably right. BUT !!! I have to defend my decision - I obviously cannot force him to go and serve in the army - by the time he is 18, I don't even know if I have the strength to fight him at all - I intent to encourage him to do so. Anyone who has been through the army learns a whole set of life skills which unfortunately gets applied to life differently by each individual. Some works and some doesn't. But nonetheless, they will learn independence - if they don't learn anything else.

Anyway.. this is turning into another story book... (gotta refrain from certain words since this is a family blog...)

On to the whole point of this post....

Caleb has been displaying interest in guns, Martial Arts, Star Wars, Spiderman , Ironman, Fantastic Four, swords and so on.. you get the gist...

I suddenly made the realisation one night that I can actually start conditioning him and prepare him for NS!! (yeah.. kiasu.. i know...)

After talking to him and asking him if he wanted to be a soldier when he grows up, it didn't take much to have him reply favourably. Which I was rather pleased about. Then along came Mummy... who sat down and joined us in front of the tv when it was showing some army show.. I forgot what it was. And the kay poh decided to join in the conversation. It went something like this.

Daddy Choo: " Caleb, do you want to be a soldier when you grow up? You can be a hero you know?"

Caleb: (eyes brighten and a wide grin coming on, nodding his head in reply)
"Yes. Hee-ro. Spy-der-man. I-yern-man (Ironman). Super - Hee-ro!!"

Daddy Choo: " Yeah. You grow up and be a soldier first ok?"

Caleb: "ok"

(Mummy appears and floats down the stairs like a ghost.)

Mummy Choo: "Caleb. You want to be soldier?! Soldier fight and will die one you know?"

*** I WANT TO SLAP HER!!! ***

Caleb starts to show concern and eventually frowns.

No thanks to mummy for that line... absolutely counter productive. I know I am not suppose to swear but .... @#$%!!!!!

Caitlin's Birthday (on actual day 10.12.08)

Today, Caitlin turns 1 officially. 10 Dec 2008. We went for a simple Chinese dinner, had a play on a $2 ride and blew a candle on a pile of chocolate chip ice cream and the best bit is....we ate all the ice cream up! How good is that?
